El proximo Viernes 26 de Febrero se celebrara la Primera Conferencia de Padres y Alumnos Latinos de Madison en el Centro Guadalupe (1862 Beld St.)
El objetivo es el de informar y fortalezar la comunidad educativa latina en las escuelas a traves de talleres informativos y el fomento del dialogo entre padres y alumnos de distintas escuelas en la ciudad de Madison y alrededores.
The Right to Dream Awake: The DREAM ACT
Madison, Wi. Contrary to what is generally thought, dream is not a waste of time, in fact dreams, aspirations and ambitions to excel is what very often helps to go through hard times like the present. If this is true for most undocumented workers, that despite all the difficulties still find the strength to work and support their families, it is even truer for young people in our community.
So laws like the DREAM ACT must be defended by the entire community, because something has to be done to ensure a fair education for our youth. The situation of youth in the Madison schools is alarming:

Madison, Wi- Al contrario de lo que generalmente se piensa, sonar no es una pérdida de tiempo, de hecho los sueños, las aspiraciones y a las ambiciones a superarse es lo que muchas veces nso ayuda a pasar tiempos muy difíciles como los actuales. Si esto es verdad para la mayoría de los y las trabajadores indocumentados que a pesar de todas las dificultades siguen encontrando fuerzas para trabajar y sacar a sus familias a delante, es aun mas cierto para los jóvenes de nuestra comunidad.
Por eso leyes como el DREAM ACT han de ser defendidas por toda la comunidad por que se tiene que hacer algo para asegurar una educación justa para nuestros jóvenes. La situación de los jóvenes en la escuelas de Madison es alarmante: Según las estadísticas en el distrito de Madison sobre el curso 2008-09, los estudiantes latinos y Morenos de 12 grado tienen entre el 20% y el 30% menos oportunidades de graduarse o lo que es lo mismo mientras 9 de cada 10 estudiantes blancos pasan el curso, solo 6 o 7 de cada 10 latinos o morenos se gradúan. Mientras, 10 de cada 100 estudiantes latinos o morenos no pasan al siguiente nivel en la High School, solo 2 de cada 100 estudiantes blancos no obtienen el pase para el siguiente año. En las dos casos estas estadísticas Madison esta peor que el estado de Wisconsin en promedio.
